How it started

It started with a controversial idea. We wanted to combine sustainability with animal health. To date, the number one ingredient in dog food has been meat, which is only partially compatible with sustainability. We were initially smiled at with our idea of reduced meat dog food, but with our strong will and experienced nutrition experts we were able to develop the first complete vegetarian food for dogs.

We created something that was unique, especially in the dog food area.

As part of a family business, we have over 75 years of experience in the animal feed sector and are therefore constantly turning new ideas into reality. At Green Petfood, we develop high-quality products with exceptional recipes right from the start, combining scientific knowledge with innovation and sustainability. So as you can see, when we do something, we do it right. Our path is far from over, go with us and make the impossible possible.

Conventional animal feed vs. Green petfood

We clearly differentiate ourselves from conventional animal feed, because we are sustainable, innovative and our Green Petfood recipes are exceptional. We offer meat-free dog food (VeggieDog), meat-based with animal welfare chicken from a more appropriate manner (FarmDog / FairCat) or food based on insects (InsectDog). But no matter which Green Petfood product you choose: You and your four-legged friend make the world a little greener every day!

What can Green Petfood do?

Our Green Petfood products provide you with alternative protein sources from peas, lupins, insects or chicken and salmon from a more appropriate manner; There's something for everyone! We have developed our dog and cat food together with experienced nutritionists so that your darling is fully supplied with all nutrients.

What else is in it

Our slim recipes only contain high quality ingredients, which we prefer to obtain from regional suppliers. All incoming ingredients and outgoing products are checked in our in-house accredited laboratory. The independent DLG TestService GmbH has also checked the entire production process and certified it with the test rating »VERY GOOD«.

Our recipes only contain what your four-legged friend really needs.

We do without wheat and soy
We do not use artificial colors, flavors and preservatives or genetically modified ingredients
We do not carry out animal experiments for the development of our feed

VeggieDog

With VeggieDog we have created a milestone in dog nutrition, because it is 100% vegetarian and 99.99% vegan. With VeggieDog we offer the possibility of optimally caring for your dog - and without any meat. All ingredients are coordinated and give your darling everything he needs.

Why dogs can be vegetarian

Compared to the wolf, the dog has a much better physical equipment for digesting starch-rich foods (increased enzyme release)
A skilful combination of different plant proteins can possibly even meet his needs better than meat proteins
For millennia, the dog has undergone an evolutionary development on the side of humans, which has adapted it to the living conditions of humans

InsectDog

With InsectDog we create another alternative to provide the dog with sufficient nutrients. Insects have a high protein content and their rearing is much more environmentally friendly and animal-free than the conventional keeping of cattle or pigs

Why insects?

They offer the ideal basis for a hypoallergenic feed, as they have so far been a rarely used and high quality protein source in dog food
Compared to many other animal protein sources, they are a very sustainable alternative, since growing them causes significantly less CO2 emissions
They not only provide the dog with high-quality protein, but also with valuable fatty acids

With FarmDog, we want to offer dog owners who want to feed meat an opportunity to consciously campaign for animal welfare and a more species-appropriate attitude.

It lives in a more natural stable structure: employment opportunities such as picking stones & straw bales, winter garden or open stables, perches & bedding for scratching and sand bathing

FairCat is fairness, happiness and love. For our cat food, too, we only use chicken and salmon from a more appropriate husbandry and insects as a high-quality, environmentally friendly protein source. Supplemented with sensual icing on the cake, there is something for every taste.
